Life in a blast furnace

Re: Life in a blast furnace
The media will make up all sorts of alleged 'news'...it doesn't mean of course that the people in Melbourne were traumatised by this event or thought it particularly special - when you've had 36C at 3am why would you!? I remember reading in the Brisbane Courier Mail a story about scorching 28C heat! Yes, yes we know...it's much hotter in Adelaide...kudos to those tough Adelaide folk for sticking it out!
Adelaide has an average of 2-3 days a year above 40C by the way...source, BOM.

I just thought that if you wanted to relieve yourself of the opportunity to whinge about why your city is so forgotten, then move. Not stupid.

Inside joke for the western Canadians. But I used to live in Adelaide and can testify to the heat. I remember walking out of work one day at Women's and Children's Hospital and the hot wind funnelling down between the buildings from the north felt like the blast you get when you open the oven door when it's been on fan-forced at 225° for an hour.

But then you're the kind of person who thinks you should move house if you don't live in an 'important' city. Now that is stupid, I'm sure we all agree.

Re: Life in a blast furnace
In for a penny, in for a pound. I haven't seen any weather in Adelaide, Melbourne or in the middle this year that is any different to previous years.
What I have seen is ridiculous headlines declaring that a day time high of 32 is SCORCHING, which clearly it isn't. It's perfectly normal for January.
Just the press having nothing better to say.
Most of the med is around 30 all summer. Didn't we all go there on hols for the warmth?
