So you were relying on getting the bond back on the same day you leave? I wouldn't have expected that with the best will in the world, it appears to take 2-3 days minimum (per RTA) if both parties agree.
You can apply to the RTA for the return of the bond yourself, if the landlord does not reply within 14 days then it will be refunded to you in full. Doesn't solve your timing issue but I think you were always going to have that, seems very odd to me that you were hinging your new deposit on the assumption this would come back in full and same day.
