Getting overly dressed up for a night out

Re: Getting overly dressed up for a night out
I had to get in quick before someone [Polly] remembered my visit to Brisbane [many moons ago] that included a trip to the shoe shop because I drove from Gympie without any shoes on & didn't even have a pair in the car.
I do tend to wear a pair of double pluggers if we go out somewhere posh

It's the opposite here in Newcastle.
I've got dressy clothes from the UK that I doubt I'll ever wear again.

I just remembered the night we had to phone The Bloke to come to the pub and lend you some trousers cos they said after 8pm no shorts! So there was you in the car park, trying to hold up his trousers over your shorts, with no belt, and walk across the road to get back into the pub

Maybe Newcastle is where I need to go!!
It's not that I don't like dressing up, just that I'm backpacking-no space for heels or nice jackets or bags and dressy clothes were the things I assumed I could compromise on, but obviously not!
As for the bare feet thing.... I really don't get it!! Especially when it's not even hot if sunny ATM. Why would you go out barefoot in the rain??
