If you go to a football club you'll find people that like it, it you go to a rugby club you'll find people that don't

Not if you're going to Victoria. They'll staple you to a cross and then set it on fire.

Try around here... the Birthplace of VFL is the place where real football is having it's major ressurgance. In the Inner North The populace definitely does like football. Melbourne Victory have more members than any NFL team and 3 AFL teams.... 19,500 at last count... the majority of MV fans live in Darebin and Moreland. These Two Municipalities would probably have the greatest percentage of population of real Football lovers in the Country.

You know I was kidding. You've got to admit that Aussie rules is a religion in Victoria.

Although the whole "real" football thing always sounds evangelical to me. In the future will we get provisional football and continuity football as well?

I actually feel like i'm on a crusade at times... I do like to spread the message, I will admit. 26 years without anything I could really associate with has done that to me. The Non Ethnic based A league has to succeed.... hopefully

AFL is a religion but let's not forget how many Greeks there are in Melbourne and they like to kick the round ball.

Some People in australia like soccer... They're usually hereditary poms, or have an affection for a team from their back packing in London days..

Having said that... Most of the australians I know who like soccer are actually just neuteured poms...

So is it neutered? or naturalised? when they get citizenship? No wonder HE is reluctant...

Not many. It's taken my eldest 3 months to get a small group together at college for lunchtime footie. Mostly fellow immigrants.

Football is the most played sport in Australia by an absolute mile. AFL and League are popular but don't have the participation rates and are only popular in pockets of teh country.

It's commonly known that both the rugby codes at some point will need to join forces and a hybrid game will be created to survive.

The media within AFL, League and Union fear Football.

Plenty do, very popular among the kids, we have a thriving soccer club 10 minutes walk away and this is in the sticks.

I don't think it will take a big share of the other sports, they can co-exist in my view.

I have drifted away from it having been a season ticket holder in the UK and played a few times a week ... I dunno, all that play acting and going down at the tap of a bootlace just ruins it ... I think most older Aussie men would say so too based on my conversations over the past six years.

All depends on how the next generation take to it ...

As Manc said over in The Lounge, "Why not just start at 100 each and play the last 10 seconds?"

I seen the Firebirds (Brisbane women's team) semi has been moved from their home court because of a truck show ...
