Default Electricity ripoff

Every one in Queensland should check their electricity bills.

I found out 2 weeks ago that I was paying the 'commercial' or 'industrial' rate for my electricity, instead of the 'domestic' rate.

I even had to argue with the Origin electricity guy that I didn't live in a warehouse . So he arranged an Energex guy to come out and check it. He never arrived.

I was talking to Origin again today. They said they won't refund the money for the last 4 years, apparently it was my fault to not realise I was being charged the commercial rate.

Anyway its an ongoing situation, but to every Queenslander on here, check your previous electricity bill. You should have been being charged 14.81 per KW/h. If you're being charged 16.59 KW/h you're classed as a business.

The prices have gone up now. So if your being charged 19.20 KW/h, you are classed as a business.

Try raising it with these guys mate. You never know, they might have something to say about being overcharged for years.

We were overcharged in some way for a while. They found out, wrote to us with a refund credit so we did not pay for 6 months or so.

We were being charge $50 a month by Origin for Gas. We only have a gas stove top so we use nothing near that.

After almost 4 years I called them, and said we have almost $500 credit, why do you keep charging me. They said, $50 is the minimum Direct debit we do.

So I stopped the direct debit.

I'll probably have to start paying for Gas again, sometime in 2017, but I can't get my money back. They'll get the interest.
