A US social security number is not going to disqualify you under Section 44. Clutching at straws there but Mr Hinch appears to have a reputation that proceeds him so is likely to have people gunning for him.

He's a media whore, hasn't had a headline for a week or two so trying to keep himself in the limelight.

Agree, but if he does go under, so will every member of parliament as they are entitled to the rights or privileges in New Zealand.

You don't have to be a US citizen to have an SSN, a few hours browsing on BE will tell them that

Good point

This whole citizenship thing is a complete farce - a socialist senator is under a cloud because her mother was born in Ecuador. What a load of shite. I know she's a socialist (and therefore by default has hateful and destructive ideologies) and the Australian parliament would be better off without her but that's not the point - she was born in Australia as an Australian citizen and has a right to be there

A US social security number has nothing to do with the 'rights and privileges ' of being a US citizen. They are issued to both citizens and non-citizens. I would concur on your second point though.

So what? Section 44 says rights and privileges.

It says "... entitled to the rights or privileges of a subject or citizen of a foreign power". Having a US social security number is not a right or privilege of being a US citizen.

But you do not have to be a citizen to have a SSN, therefore merely holding one does not mean you are a citizen - therefore it is irrelevant in deciding eligibility to sit in Parliament.

Nope, but it is one of the rights and privileges of a US citizen.

That's what section 44 says.

or entitled to the rights or privileges of a subject or citizen of a foreign power

How many rights and privileges do you want? 1 is enough right? It doesn't say how may R&P's you need to fall foul of section 44

Are you deliberately trying to be perceived as a troll?
