Divorce and moving back

Trying to find out some info for a friend who has found herself in a really messy situation.

My friend (English) moved to WA in 2008, had 2 boys here (3 other kids born in UK), in 2016 she moved to NZ, after gaining AU citizenship.

Her marriage has now broken down. She wants to leave NZ, but doesn’t think her ex-husband will agree. Trying to work out legally where she stands. It would just be her and the 2 younger boys, both Aus citizens. Does anyone know if she would be able to bring the boys back to Aus, since they are Australian citizens?

Thanks

Yes, they have the right to enter Australia, as citizens - on Aus passports - but she would need to sort out her husband's permission to take them out of NZ. That's the issue, more that getting them back into Aus, ad could depend partly on what their status in NZ is - are they just there on visas or are any of them (or the father) citizens there, for instance.
Might be worth asking on the NZ forum?

Thanks. I’ll try there.
