He spoke at my citizenship ceremony, then as mayor of Brisbane. What a twat he was. While everyone else who spoke managed to come up with something eloquent and thought provoking about the day, all he could manage was tired old ra ra ra-ing about the best city in the best state in the...you get the picture!

Never underestimate how dumb the electorate can be, particularly a queensland electorate.

Whilst the vote of the 'lib'erals is down, as is newman's popularity, there are still a frightening number of deranged souls who think he's not a homicidal maniac, and is instead votable material.

http://www.abc.net.au/news/2014-02-1...l-says/5251254

LNP primary vote 41%, 53% preferred
Newman support 40%, 47% preferred over the labor leader
People who agree with the illegal bikie attacks 41%

In short, there are two fifths of the electorate who insane enough to vote for him and his laws; and his party would win as things currently stand.

I've long said that there ought to be minimum standards of sanity for those standing for public office. I'm coming round to the idea that there should be the same for voters.

With luck this fellow would set the neo conservative, destructive agenda back decades. Hope he hangs around. He's a reminder to the rest of us, what can potentially happen if we allow the philistines in.

The problem is that whoever you vote for the government always gets in.

All parties are all the same anyway, given they are under the control of reptilian shape-shifting Illuminati.

Anyway, isn't the weather nice right now?

All parties need lots of money to run election campaigns. Therefore they tend to do what the people who give them that money tell them to do. Electors can be lied to, shaped and placated at will - they don't count - the ones with the money do. That's particularly true of the 'lib'erals. If the reptilian shape-shifting illuminati had a few mil in their hand, I'm sure abbott would be hanging his arse out...

Just what IS the normal shape of Murdoch, Gina, etc. anyway? If you were shape-shifting, wouldn't you chose a better shape?

I'll happily pay his flight tickets and removal costs to move him over there so you can have him.

He's a tool and obviously someone voted for him but no one's admitted it to me. However it's much the same as politics all over where people will make as much or more effort as to who they don't want as to who they do. I was more than happy with Anna Bligh personally.
