Thanks all for the ideas & input. We got cover with Coles in the end.

Was going to get Allianz as the 200km towing allowance is very attractive, however they have a 72 hour no claim allowed policy. Seeing as I needed to get cover less than 48 hours before travel, that scuppered them. Coles were $100 less anyway.

Beoz - jump leads - always great advice. My parents bought me my first set of leads when I got my first car *coughs* years ago. Still have them.

Even better than jumper leads are the new lithium ion jump start packs

Incredible technology

The size of a paperback but can jump start any car

Get one with USB ports and a torch and you have a very helpful and useful piece of kit

I finally got my electrical issues fixed. 3 years later and no charge the whole journey from Mazda. New alternater. No more need for those jumper leads hopefully.
