Good schools, and a good private school also. Friends girls go there.
Traffic onto the Bruce always gets backed up at Bracken Ridge in mornings.
Good easy access to shops, town, and northern and southern suburbs

Re: BRACKEN RIDGE OR NOT??????
Hi
Been in Bracken Ridge since May this year. The area has most things you want, supermarket, post office, doctors etc and a mix of housing (some newer and some older areas). It's not the 'most prestigious' area, but it's not the worst either! Good road and rail links into the city. My OH drives in and it takes about 30 mins at 6.30am...The motorway can get busy but nothing like the M25!
My kids go to the private school, which is St Pauls in Bald Hills. Fees for primary age are about $6400 for next year, and of course that doesn't include uniform and book list. But we have been very pleased. My kids are getting opportunities and access to specialist teachers and facilities that they wouldn't in the UK. I looked around the state schools when we first arrived as we didn't expect to send them to a private school. I wasn't that impressed with the 2 in Bracken Ridge. Bald Hills State would be my choice or there is St Joseph's which is Catholic.
Hope that helps.

Re: BRACKEN RIDGE OR NOT??????
Considered moving there after we left our last place, but the lack of accessability from the house we looked at to the trains, and the onfrequency or lack of Brisbane buses for the OH to fit in with work times, made us choose to remain in the Aspley area. Add to the fact that we would have to leave alot earlier in the mornings for me to drive to work and still get there in time...

Re: BRACKEN RIDGE OR NOT??????
Renting at the moment, $300/week, 3 brm, stones through from the Homemaker centre. To buy it is gettng abit pricey. The house next to the one we were in sold recently for $480k, and it was nothing special, considering the one we were renting was bought about four years before for about $240k and was bigger inside/bigger block.

As they are adjoining suburbs, you wouldn't save very much in travel, maybe a couple of minutes.
