We went to Fraser for a week of beach camping last year and had a blast. We'd really like to go again this year but we're going overseas for 6 weeks so struggling a bit with having enough leave. (But might make it up that way for a long weekend, so let me know when you're coming up just in case!).

Looks to me like jeeps are nowhere near as fuel effecient as some folks here are claiming, what are they ? 3.6 litre v6's lol.

Mines a 3.8 V6 and I get about 13l/100km which is rather crap. But then nobody buys a Wrangler for fuel economy, they buy one because it's great fun!

All of my life i have been hearing about "peak oil" and the doom that will come from it. It was first proposed in 1956 ad we were assured it would occur in 1970. In the mid 70s it would all be over by 1985. For the record there are more know oil reserves than we have consumed in the last 150 years.

On the other hand the Western world hit "Peak Welfare" in 2010 and its downhill all the way from here.

I admit that I will be following your thinking on the next car. 13l/100ks is a bit to much for me to stomach.


This does not alter the fact that a JEEP wrangler may use less of the worlds resources per km or year of it's life span than the complex little turbodiesel doing 4l/ks that ends up being scrapped because it is uneconomic to repair after a few years and a new one being built to replace it.
