Not the best understanding of the market. For instance, much of the reason Amazon tries not to make a profit is it will be taxed. Better to keep feeding the money to growing the business, or adjacent businesses. If you want to go out and spend $13.7bn on a grocery chain, you can get a loan to cover it, and set the payments against tax.
A lot of it seems to be wishful thinking, not borne out by the evidence in other countries. Realistically the story is told by a graph

Part of my wandering previous post is thinking on what replaces Amazon. And that line of thought was started by realising Amazon is a web company, and web is yesterday's news.

Dismissing it as "not the best understanding of the market" is foolish at best.
You are still bleating on about cost as the only factor. We all know convenience, speed and user experience kills costs every time, providing the cost difference is minimal. We know bricks and mortar compete on cost, not sure why you refuse the quick and easy google search to prove it for yourself.
Its also ok to say "I got it wrong" sometimes.

I did it with Clive Peeters back when they were a thing, about 7 years ago I think. They happily price matched a $800 camera with an online site out of Hong Kong.

Massaging quotes and altering what someone says. Wow.
Jetstar are more often than not in the same ball park as Qantas or Virgin. However they do have that advantage of flying to some locations where the other carriers may not. For example, Qantas don't do Bali and at one point didn't do the Gold Coast.
Same with Ryanair.

Never heard a AU retailer say they are world-class..infact barely heard an Australian say it outside wanting good outcomes and quality...its a BE myth and people take it literally when it is said and seize on it unnecessarily... World class doesn't necessarily mean 'best in the world': it recognizes qualitive and comparative or competitive..
Beoz is right: price not an issue if it is similar.
Amazon have just blown their experience comparatively speaking..not impressed..but it shows that the model takes time to come up to speed..

Now I never said that cost was the only factor (that was your invention) but I did say that it was the primary factor. It was you that tried to say that it was unimportant, and then screwed it up by having to admit that that was only the case .... if prices were the same.
Which basically admits that different prices overrides other factors most of the time. Which is what we already know from practical experience.
As for Jetstar and Ryanair not prioritising cost over everything else ....

Show the post where I mentioned if prices were the same?
And what has the consumer told their competitors. You know like British Airways?
We want to fly with you because you offer a better experience, different flying locations, and after the slug for luggage, and all the other hidden extras, you aint that much more that RyanAir.
And we know this because British Airways are still in business.
Can't wait for China Southern to put the Australia to UK route out of action for all other airlines. (Airlines was your comparison not mine - that was a slip up wasn't it)

Amazon for the Northern Subs of Melbourne, went via Star Trak couriers yesterday. Either that or it went missing.
Thats despite the manifests of what was on it's way coming to the Posties in the Northern Burbs. About 60 parcels for 20 post codes on the first day.
