Despite what many on the left will try and tell you, high-speed rail as it in Europe and Japan is economically not viable in Australia. In Europe it is massively loss-making and heavily subsidised and in Japan tickets are very expensive and the cost of building their network has virtually bankrupted them. It is interesting to note that Canada, the country that most closely resembles us in the northern hemisphere also has no high-speed rail

Some of those lefties will say that the cost is not important but you will probably find that they are rent-seeking. Subsidies will have to come from the taxpayer and in that case it would be better for the country if we reduced tax which would drive the economy higher

Even if they were, the speeds limits would still be ridiculously low like 90 or 100, 110 max.

I'd like to try that. I can't sit in a normal chair for any length of time.

Wouldn't mind having one but I'd probably fall asleep like Alfresco. I also like those stand up desks. Great for meetings and workshops Must have at least three monitors though. I have that at work (well, a dock attached to two screens and I use my laptop screen to make three). I find it's super productive and essential if we want a genuine paperless office.

Australia cheapest in the world again - and over 50% less than the UK

Got my son a Nikon D3300 plus lens kit for Christmas from OW. $298 after $100 cashback from Nikon

amazon.com - AUD523
amazon.de - AUD568
amazon.co.uk - AUD640 (over double the price! UK is wank for tech)

There are guys on Ozbargain getting this price matched at HN, adding an extra $50 AMEX discount and then getting TSA for an end price of around AUD217! Good DSLR gear for a point and shoot price

Deal of the year so far

Nikon18-55mm VR-II Lense. It's a kit a lens but apparently quite good. Perfect for my son. If he gets into photography I'll get him a 2nd lense

Muriel?

Yep, that's a good price for all that.

Well, I've upgraded. The Note 4 got pick pocketed in Asia a few weeks back. Now there's a downside of a large phone. It shows at the top of the pocket making it easy to slide out.

I'm on the Note 5 now. Very nice piece of kit. I do like the feature where you can take notes straight to the screen when the screen is off. Great for jotting down a quicky.

The camera is a belter. It has a Pro mode where you can adjust all the settings like an SLR.

Still learning all the features. Will report back when I find more.

Well now, that is interesting. I can upgrade my Note 4 as of now, but was wondering how long the battery lasts on the 5 as it is smaller?

Should I do it or not is the question.

EDIT: I just read this review comparison. I think I'll go for it.

I've only had it a day and I smashed its usage last night while I got everything in place and to where I like it. I went to bed with 22%.

I read reports online that the battery life outshines the Note 4. New features include power conservation.

I will have a standard usage day on it today so I will report back as to what is left.

I can't really see a better phone on the market right now but I'm happy to be persuaded otherwise.
