Default Tighter controls on Work Permits

Tighter work permit system -- NationNews Barbados -- Local, Regional and International News nationnews.com

This is an article in our Sunday Sun newspaper from the 9th April. sometimes after a few days, the newspaper will "open up" the entire article for everyone to read.. I've scanned the article.. hope you can read it.

it gives stats.. which are very surprising me to

What surprised you? Here we see:

Specialist artisans like stone masons ans stone tilers for big hotels and villas would tend to be foreigners, consultants will always be employed on short term contracts by govt and industry - often there is no option, eg auditors. MD's are just a cover all for people with inward investment?

Chefs, caregivers, house keepers are a surprise - however do these work permits also include the Caricom nationals who are entitled just like under the European union to work - I am not sure if a permit is granted in their case in order to get the NI number required?

Lol maybe our standard advice to people should not be you have very little chance of getting a permit but that you may as well see it and try ! Having said that you can bet that most permits are put in by hotel chains and major organisations rather than the individuals themselves.

When I got a work permit it cost me $6000 for 3 years so that would mean an income of over a million based on those numbers.
