Default Is there a ban on washing lines in barbados?

Hi, I recently moved to the island and I asked my landlord if I can have a washing line at the side of the house (it would be seen by neighbours). He at first said yes, however has now text to say that apparently it is illegal to hang your washing in public, his builder/handyman reminded him. I have looked through previous threads and can't find anything and I've seen washing lines since being here. Is anyone aware of this law? Does it exist and is ignored by certain individuals? Or does it just apply to certain areas? Thanks in advance

hahaha.. that has to be the stupidest thing I've ever heard.. people have them every where.. lots of homebuilders will build something they call a "drying yard", which is sometimes an enclosed space but the enclosure is done with those concrete blocks that have large holes to allow for air to come through. Mine is strung up in my back patio and out into my yard, when I need it.. anyone passing, even on the main road could see it.. you can drive down any main road all over Barbados and see peoples washing out on the line. .Most Bajans don't have a dryer (me included) and you will always find a washing line out.. So.. unless you live in a development that has specific rules that speak to that , I think they are pulling your leg..

let me just say.. you will never see one in Sandy Lane residential area.. or Westmoreland or those types of places.. and that's likely because of the covenants to the property or home owners associations.

Thank you sunniebgi for your reply- I'll harass the landlord some more and see if it's a local covenant (none of our neighbours seem to have lines out- that I can see)
