Default Hi- possible relocation to Barbados

Greetings
My husband has a job offer for Barbados. We are CARICOM members. I have a few questions that I would like help with..he will be working in Bridgetown

Housing: During our trip to the island, we fell in love with St Phillip and St Georges. How difficult will such a commute really be?
School: both kids (5, 14) will go to the Providence School
Leasing negotiating: how low does the rent go from the advertised price? We have a shipping and car allowance. So would like to negotiate housing down since we will come with furniture and appliances.
Thank you for your help

Hi Chanous

I just wanted to welcome you to the forum and to your exciting new journey to Barbados...I will let others inform you more about traffic etc from both locations and your childrens journey to school from your preferred locations

Negotiations are just like elsewhere ..some will some wont its an individual thing and also depends on your price bracket and the situation of the individual landlord. Some will not even entertain the idea but if they live off shore then they might be open

Enjoy your time in the forum and look forward to you being the one advising others soon l

Welcome to the Forum and to Barbados. St. George would put your commute to school pretty easy . Bridgetown maybe a bit more difficult depending on where exactly your husband will be working.

to my knowledge rents are not usually negotiated down unless you find a landlord who is willing. the price is generally the price.. St. Philip and St. George prices can be less in cost the some prices you will find on the South or West Coast of the island.

You ask in another post about tuition for Providence. I assume you are putting them in the same school because they will accept both (primary and secondary) rather then in 2 separate schools. I was checking to see if there were any posts on tuition on any forum, but not showing anything, so you would need to check with the school to make sure of availability of placement and tuition.
