Going to see this on the most northerly isles in Scotland. The Dano-Norwegians owed us some money for a marriage dowry, but were broke, so we took Orkney and Shetland as securiiy. We did not give the islands back.

Now that winter is leaving us, I can be more confident in planning some trips.

You can take the ferry from Aberdeen overnight. I am flying with Loganair. I have done a number of the Scottish islands - moist of them since I retired to the west of Scotland, where a lot of the islands are.

Re: Another Scottish island
I spent 6 days on the Isle of Skye back in 2015 and absolutely loved it. I stayed in Portree as my niece was living there at the time. Visited Dunvegan Castle, a distillery (can't remember the name) and went on a tour of Skye plus did a lot of walking. I enjoyed my time there - not sure when (or if) I will get back there as my niece has now moved back to the Scottish mainland (Fort William). I love Scotland - my mum was Scottish and I have several family members living there. Hope you have a lovely trip there!

Re: Another Scottish island
I cannot help but observe the huge numbers of English colonists in places like Skye and Galloway. As Brexit closes doors to Europe, more are coming to live in Scotland, using their inflated equity on properties in the Deep South. "Sell your cardboard box and buy a castle from the Jocks."
