3 Months in :)

3 Months in :)
It's great to be back. I am no longer asked to repeat everything that I say or told that I have a lovely accent. I have a teaching job and my qualifications are accepted at full face value not devalued because I didn't spend 4 years getting a degree. No snow. I could vote for the first time in ten years. Drivers get on with it and understand roundabouts. There is so much choice in the supermarkets and it's cheaper. BBC iplayer The National Trust for Sunday outings and cream teas. My daughter hasn't missed a day off school since we got back because of weather or training days. Spring is a season again. The countryside seems so very green and gentle. Sheep and lambs. A proper high street with tea shops Boots and WHSmith. My cats can go outside without the fear of being eaten. Proper spelling.
Rose coloured glasses maybe as it's early days. Still need to sell our house in Canada, miss my friends but no regrets otherwise.

What a lovely little update. Love the bit about the accent. I get so fed up of all that here in NZ.

Great update, Scrapcat. I can agree with all of this.

BBC iplayer is all the recent BBC shows and some old one that you can stream and enjoy, better than trying desperately to find something from the UK on youtube..... spent 10 years in PEI but I'm now back in Herefordshire.

Ah, lovely. So, would you know how to find out whether an area has high speed internet? It's a must have for us, especially for streaming movies.

Go onto the BT website and you can look up by Postcode. We were lucky and were able to have Fiber installed which is really fast! And 1/3rd of what we were paying up in New Hampshire North of Boston for much less speed.

perthhomeschool, this is fairly accurate except in really rural areas like mine (it's showing our max speeds as 9MB but actually we get 20MB through a small local provider).
Broadband Speed Checker - Broadband speed in my area
A lot of rural areas are installing wireless broadband systems that work really well. If you're looking in the country, just googling the village/town name plus high speed broadband usually brings up any parish council minutes etc. We did that when buying our house and I wound up finding a village just about to get high speed. (I know 20MB isn't amazing, but it's fine for two of us to stream movies/TV shows at the same time with no problem).
PS: Love the update and agree with every word!
