2.5 yrs Back and still hating it! LOL

Ok I posted a thread called '3 months back and hating it' 2 years ago..which I have just re-read... funnily based on the replies I did decide to give it a year and see what happened..in that time I tried moving and changing jobs..in a kind of chicken and egg scenario...trouble is/was I applied for over 150 jobs in the location I wanted to be in and rarely got a reply or even as much as an interview..so decided to I was going head back to Canada this time last year.
I managed to secure a job offer and was all set to move back...however my Mum was diagnosed with Cancer within days of getting the job offer which eventually was confirmed as being terminal.
Fast forward to now and Mum only has a few months left...I continued to apply for Jobs here but with no joy..so now I have decided once more to go back to Canada before my PR expires..its been a tough decision to make but I feel like its been a horrible 2,5 years back in the UK.

Sounds like you have had a tough time, if you cannot move to an area you like which might make a difference to how you feel about being in the UK and you don't like where you are now then you really don't seem to have any choice, you have given your time in the UK a "good go" and it has not worked out for you, at least you have time with your Mum which for me was a blessing when my Dad died very suddenly last year, I would of hated that to have happened while I was living overseas (as was the case with my Mum). If you truly believe your life is in Canada then you have to go for it. Best wishes

Sorry to hear about your mom and your experiences here. At least you were here for her. I firmly believe that if doors dont open for you or keep closing, you are at the wrong door. Going back to Canada sounds like the right decision and you may even see Canada in a totally different light. Once back try getting your citizenship as quickly as possible so you no longer have the uncertainty. Good luck.

Agree its bad in Canada, west as well as easy.
Property prices gone made, very high taxes, high food costs....going downhill very rapidly.

Personally, I'd regard the Liberal government and carbon taxes as reasons for staying in Canada.

How do carbon taxes benefit YOU? Especially if your much larger neighbors see it differently. Canada shooting itself in the foot.

You might enjoy this article Why conservatives have it wrong about Trudeau’s carbon tax - The Globe and Mail which is fairly lucid on the topic.

Go for it Canada. put it into government control and remove the market which is more or less what was voted in. I am a sceptic not a denier:nod:

Yes I did, imposing taxes instead of market forces. Yes only an 11 cent per liter or 40 cent per gallon tax...not market but somewhat price fixing. Written by a confirmed person who believes that government rules and regulations know better. I see the difference but disagree. And yes please have a Merry Christmas to you and yours.

BTW I am all in favor of a 40 cent tax per gallon in the US if truly devoted to highway/bridge etc maintenance.
