Thanks to everyone who came out last night - despite the woeful planning and last minute pub choices, a really pleasant evening was had by all. Good beer, wine, food and conversation.

And really good to see Omlette there after a protracted absence...

Still looking for suggestions for next week then.

Maybe a repeat visit for others, but i've never done The Lord Nelson... Only ever heard good stuff about it. If it does food it would be a bonus too. Your pie was p-poor last week

Poor doesn't even come close... It was really nasty. It was beef and cheese for a start, but tasted more of detergent. Not like the fine pies available at The Welcome or the Town Hall...

MMMMMmmmmm. Haven't had a pie in the Welcome for ages... Thats tempting. But CBD is best location for all isn't it? There must be some great pubs we haven't done yet.

There are - I just don't know the names of them. I quite like the Metropolitan - has a nice sort of feel to it, and isn't desperately expensive. There also a couple down in Circular Quay that we havn't looked at yet.

I'm in the mood for a stroll around the city this weekend (read: shopping) so I may have a short reccie and come up with some suggestions...

Needs a dartboard and pie, right?

After not eating last week, think that somewhere that does food (edible!) would be good. Dartboard is just a bonus. I'll ask around some Ozzie chums for some new recommendations also, see what they come up with? But yeah, reccie sounds good. Sorry can't think of any recommendations of new pubs as i don't think i've been anywhere that you lot haven't been!

Right, after my extensive reconnaissance of the CBD this weekend, I have these suggestions:

Jacksons on George - had a good looking menu and a nice looking bar
The Ship Inn - Mainly outside eating, but heated
The Crown - Elizabeth street. Didn't get to go in this one, but it looked reasonable from the outside...

I vote for Jacksons...

have you tried the Australian Heritage Hotel on Cumberland Street?
it's one of the best inner city pubs imo, good beer and great pizzas too
