I find the West Coast has a lot more to offer than the East coast in terms of culture if you're prepared to take a 3-5 hour flight at what would cost the same as flying to another city in Oz or less, Bali, Singapore, Indo, Malaysia are all on your doorstep, whereas you have Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne and New Zealand on the East Coast, hardly a diverse set of cultures.
And Papua New Guinea,New Caledonia,Tuvalu,Solomans, besides a range of Oz cities within stricking distance which in Australian terms offer a far wider perspective.
Be suprised how mant locals in Perth have never been on the East Coast let alone to Asia..but Bali is a bit of a West Aussie playground.Barely counts as abroad these days.

I've seen flights to Singapore on Tiger for $300 return recently. We are going to Phuket in the October school holidays - 3 return flights to KL for $800-odd on AAX. Jetstar, Virgin, Tiger, AirAsiaX all expanding their flights to Asia out of Perth.

Not exactly perhaps...but they make the rules and hence are often better suited to serve, follow and prosper and accept with little question of the orthodoxy.

He was asking for somewhere lively on a Wednesday, good or not the Leedy on a wednesday certainly is lively.

Given your responses to the original question, I ask why do you live here?

Exactly, Perth is only isolated and boring if you make it so.

Horses for courses, Perth is great if you make it so and can be prepared to travel, if you don't like to go forther than down the road it most certainly is boring.
Quite so .....but cannot believe that Mandurah will come even vaguely close to giving relief from the tedium...

What responses in particular would lead you to ponder the reasoning to the answer of the question one can but wonder.

A very reasonable question . . . would quality of life in Perth be enhanced if it were two hours south of Gold Coast?
