What country is this in then, England? Because it certainly isn't Australia there are no medium size cities within 2 hours drive of each other, 2 hours flight maybe.
I find the West Coast has a lot more to offer than the East coast in terms of culture if you're prepared to take a 3-5 hour flight at what would cost the same as flying to another city in Oz or less, Bali, Singapore, Indo, Malaysia are all on your doorstep, whereas you have Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne and New Zealand on the East Coast, hardly a diverse set of cultures.

Be suprised how mant locals in Perth have never been on the East Coast let alone to Asia..but Bali is a bit of a West Aussie playground.Barely counts as abroad these days.

Given your responses to the original question, I ask why do you live here?

Exactly, Perth is only isolated and boring if you make it so.

Re: Why is Perth boring?
It has nothing to do with Perth at all. Just you were likening a trip from Brisbane to Logan as living in some great metropolis, it would be like going on holiday from Perth to Mandurah, and the Gold Coast is not a city it is a region. Horses for courses, Perth is great if you make it so and can be prepared to travel, if you don't like to go forther than down the road it most certainly is boring.

What responses in particular would lead you to ponder the reasoning to the answer of the question one can but wonder.
