Default whv questions...

Hi all,
I am thinking going to sydney next summer on the whv, just to do some travelling, enjoy the sunshine and improve my surfing (hopefully..)
just wondering is there much work in sydney for medical admin/audio typists and is it likely to get work doing this on the whv, also will be heading off by myself so was thinking of joining one of the city's surf clubs to meet people, any ideas which? Many thanks

no idea about the work, but I'd suggest moving to bondi, stay in a hostel for a night or two until you find a shared house, go out drinking with your new friends, get surfing at lots of beaches around sydney. then worry about a job a couple of months later.

good luck !

He He He – I suggest avoiding Bondi like the plague – it is a rundown dump full of pretentious pratts and drunken backpackers.

No doubt you will like it though – as I am the only person I know who positively hates the place.

You want good company, sea, sand, drinking, surfing – then try Avalon – as it is a much prettier and nicer area.

Loads of temp work through agencies for typists, plus loads of WHV jobs in hospitality.

Here are some reasonably decent job seeking sites, to give you some ideas:

http://www.careerone.com.au/

http://mycareer.com.au/

Once you get here, The Sydney Morning Herald on a Saturday also has a good job section.

I did the WHV in 1991 - hope you get further than Sydney though, as so much to see in this vast beautiful land.

Nope, me too.

Out of the 6 years in total I lived in Sydney I have only been to Bondi 3 times (and that was to take family/friends who were visiting and wanted to see it).

Personally I think Manly and Coogee are much nicer.
