Default White Goods in rental properties

Hi, we've looked at dozens of properties (in North Sydney - Bella Vista etc).

Whilst most seem to have a laundry room, there's never a photo of it, so we can't tell if washer/dryer are included.

We're trying to work out if it's worth us trying to squeeze our washer or dryer on the container. Buying when we arrive isn't a big deal, but if it's uncommon for it to be included, we may as well try and bring it with us.

Thanks!

Would be very unusual.

They tend to include dishwashers, cookers, etc. but not fridges, microwaves, or washing machines.

Thanks GarryP - the dishwasher / fridge / cooker lineup is certainly consistent with what we've seen.

And are there any major compatibility issues with a UK washing machine (size/plumbing)?

Perhaps we'll aim for the washing machine, and the tumble drier can be an added bonus if it fits

No idea on compatibility, I bought here.

Basically the usual is a hot and cold water connection, with a hook for the waste pipe into a hole in the laundry sink. Not complicated, but my guess is its only the last part of this that might cause issues.

Edit : something like

I've never seen a rental with washing machine, never mind dryer (most people here don't bother with those at all).
Main difference here is that the washing machine is usually (as in Garry's pic) just attached to the sink with pipes and not properly plumbed in.

I've rented several properties over the years and looked at loads more. Never seen one with a fridge or washing machine, have seen some with dishwashers. Always been a cooker (of some sort).

Thanks both - really helpful.
Ours only needs a cold inlet, and if it's just a matter of shoving the waste pipe in a hole, we should be ok

In fact, just looked at a couple of online stores, and look to be able to buy the same (or Aus equiv) front-load machine, so reckon we should be ok. Especially as it's nearly $1000!!

So what are you going to do for a washing machine while yours is on the boat over?

There are places you can hire white goods from if necessary

We bought our washer, dryer, dishwasher over. They all fitted with no issues other than changing the plugs obviously. Bring everything if you have room in the container.

We're being put up in serviced/furnished accommodation whilst our stuff is en-route. (Though we'll probably just go straight into unfurnished and rent what we need)

Thanks ☺️

We'll aim to bring them, but we agreed to keep to a 20ft container - we think we're just over that so we know we'll have to sacrifice some bits- just a matter of picking goes & what stays!

While I remember it, consider that a hot inlet, if it uses it, can be useful. Newer houses often have solar hot water heating - so if washing it timed for when the day's sun has got to work, you might well find that costs can be reduced/be more green.

You can often put stuff inside the drum of the machine, together with other nooks etc. - just be smart with packing and be smart about it.
