Default where to live in Victoria

We have our visa's and just can't decide what to do? We originally decided to live on the Central Coast but have decided against this and are now looking at areas around Melbourne - think the climate might be suit us better.
Can anyone recommend areas arounnd Melbourne to live? We have a toddler and would like to be within 30mins drive of the beach and no more than an hour from Melbourne. Really after a good neighbourhood.

Hi,

Like yourselves we decided on Victoria for the climate. Think it would be too extreme coming from the UK to go to tropical climates all year round.

We are looking along the Mornington peninsula, don't know why it just seems to tick all our boxes and apparently there are lots of expats there.

Good Luck

We're off to Mornington peninsula too

OP said no more than an hour from Melbourne so may want to look at Bayside suburbs depending on affordability.

Technically speaking (Metropolitan) Melbourne ends just before Mt Eliza.

Buy a house in Humphries Rd, walk across the road and hey presto you're in Melbourne.

I had a look at the house prices, they seem very expensive. What's the average house price like for 3 bed house around these areas? (in case I have searched a wrong website)

I haven't checked any prices but I'd guess you could get a decent 3 Bd for anything around $350,000 to $400K.

Not sure about Ferntree Gully prices, but The Basin's prices are soaring - probably because so few houses come up here, the opening of the Eastlink and the fact that people are finally discovering our hidden gem

Yeah I noticed in the paper that the average price has gone up $53k in the last year in FTG.
I suppose it will keep the riff raff out.
