Where to get good thai green curry in Brisbane?
I've been having a few Thai green curries out, and they are all quite Australianised - or just plain shocking. (Funnily enough the Valcom jars have been superior) I asked a Thai waitress why this was, and she agreed that the curry was not similar at all, more creamy she said - but didn't offer an alternative; that kind of oriental smile-wobble-head-confused expression. Could anyone personally recommend a good authentic style Thai restaurant?

One of the best Thais I have ever had in Australia was in Ipswich.
I appreciate this information is not terribly helpful.

The Golden Buddha in Seven Hills is nice - a little more upmarket and pricey than a lot of thai joints, but really nice food and atmosphere.

I haven't tried it yet as I have just moved to the area, but I hear very good things of 2B Thai, Merthyr Rd, New Farm, Brisbane. Intending to try it out soon - I'll send you a review when I have.

Closest I can recommend as an interstater is Singapore Laksa at the Fat Noodle in the old Treasuary building.
Thats worth a visit.

If you are on the sunshine coast, and no doubt if your in brisbane you would be at some stage.
Head for the Mooloolaba surf club there is a street opposite, just a few doors down you will see dozens of people hanging on the footpath waiting for thai food, about 13 cooks in a 3m long galley kitchen.
I dont think anyone knows the real name of the restaurant but its known as the Dirty Thai due to its rather authentic thai looking shanty tables and floors etc. Looks rough as, only takes cash I havent been there for a year but it really is authentic food and cheap, say $14 a head. Backpackers to local Lawyers and Pilots cram in side by side. Quite a place.

Overall Ipswich was disappointing, I expected more. It wasn't rough or not rough, just deserted. Reminded me of Farnborough centre. I did a U-turn as I passed the probation and correction centre and headed back to Indooroopilly - I wasn't in the mood for a green curry.

I went to Ipswich today on the train, spent about 10 minutes there and went back. Pleased to report at least 2 interesting incidents; 1) police arresting someone screaming his head off at Ipswich station 2) someone not right in the head with a cross tattoo on his forehead boarded two stations down from Ipswich was shadow boxing on the train whilst laughing to his mate. I avoided eye contact.
