Melb has been cold, damp and foggy at times, lots of drizzly rain and odd downpour. Low teens daytime, proper winter.

But Partner been moaning Sunshine coast /brisbane are cold.

Really? have to laugh after the last month.

Landed on coast, now sitting with my feet in the sun, not the ferocious sun of aussie summer, enjoyable level of sun, 22ish, beautiful weather.

Hopefully its cold tonight, there is a fireplace here, loads of wood and my tiny cellar of red wine and brandy.

Winter is too short in OZ, sunny and cool or grey and foggy, making the most of every minute.

I'm sure there have been, but I can't remember a Melbourne winter as grey and wet as this in all my 36 years here.

I haven't thought it was that bad?? I know last July was awful...because my Dad arrived almost exactly a year ago for a holiday and the weather in Melbourne was shocking the whole 2 weeks they were here.

We had a great weekend in Brisbane. Days were about 26, no wind and no cloud. Back to perfect winter weather.

Yehp could be that I'm getting older and feeling it more, only all of my workmates are saying the same thing. There again we are a fairly old workforce... average age at least 53... possibly higher. It's made me look very closely at my Tasmanian retirement plans. I've never had a winter affect me as much as this current one. I used to enjoy them. I'm sure it's much greyer this year, that's what is getting me down.

People kept telling us last winter was colder than usual, this one is more miserable, more damp, last one the winds were the killer. Dont think its cause your old the teens moan like hell about it. Both sick right now.

The rental unit has 2 reverse cycle in the bedrooms only. Summer temp in bedroom has been 48C, winter temp in kitchen has been 4C. Very wide range, I guess QLD plodded along between 22 and 28 most of the year with occasional break out temp.

I have to come back to melb tomorrow, land at 8am, should be brisk

I invested $20 in a electric blanket, never had one before, thinking of an upgrade to one that has 9 settings, but worried I would become addicted to staying in bed

This is our 4th Australian winter and definitely the worst we've had - very grey and miserable.

I'm on nights this week but the winds today have woken me up a lot - sounded like the roof was coming off at one point - very loud.

Weather today has been very wild - and expected to continue for a while. Even some snow in parts of the area.

But lots of houses without power and SES have responded to around 1500 calls since midnight.

It's been very cold. We had hail down south and just up the road they had snow. We still have power but the next suburb has been out most of the day. lots of trees down - a house opposite one of our villages had a bug gum through its roof.

Facebook tells me we also had snow on this day last year too. At least we're on the flip side of winter now and it SHOULD start to warm up soon!

The UK always gets a summer. Just that more often than not it only gets 'decent summer weather' for a week or so. Daughter currently in London where it's going to be 35 'allegedly'. She did not take Aus summer clothes with her

Sounds like a good excuse for a spot of shopping

I heard the 35 degree thing just now on the radio, driving back from the shop. We're on the Irish Sea so no chance of that here!
