Starting the day of the week on sunday is even more annoying ( calendars usually ). Go to a Yoga class on Sunday and the teacher always calls Sunday the start of the week, weird

Weather, warming up, you can feel the UV is up (annoying ) sun is much stronger, but not the intensity of summer, about 24 on the sunshine coast today, 29 tomorrow. We are still up and down between melb and brisbane till november, this will mean some wild swings in temps for the next 3 months. 30 one day 3 the next is quite possible

That would be the stupid Aussies in whose country you have chosen to live for 10 years then...........

Spring in Australia starts on 1st September regardless of what the weather or moon is doing.

My living here doesn't impact on the level of stupidity in Australia. Unfortunately no matter how great my intellect is, the level of stupidity such that it doesn't make any difference overall.

The vernal equinox date is set not by individual nations it isn't a nation date but a matter of science. AND it nothing to do with the moon, but the Sun. Individual nations can't decide where the sun should be.

err no but they can decide their own vernacular on when spring starts.

This doesn't make them stupid.

Vernacular? Doesn't makes sense but nevertheless no individual nations can change the date of the vernal equinox. The vernal equinox is a solar event I.e. A matter of fact. So yes changing the date does make them stupid. Especially as the reason i,s according to the ABC this morning "it makes it easier to remember when the seasons start". If that's not stupidity I don't know what is?

The southern hemisphere doesn't generally have four well defined seasons like the NH. When I was growing up in South Africa, we generally called it either summer or winter as explained below.

South African Weather Service - How are the dates of the four seasons worked out?

Seasons

Spring (season) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia)

When does spring start - the difference between the meteorological and astronomical seasons. - Met Office

And I've been sleeping (night shifts)

Do know that the day started very wet and misty up in the Barossa, but was dry and sunny by the time I got home this morning. Temperatures were down a bit from recent ones and I had no trouble sleeping

There is a call for 5 distinct seasons in Southern Aus. The aboriginals know all about this.

You have to add Sprinter and Sprummer.... I kid you not.

Compared with here (Australia), the weather in Southern Africa is far more predicable.
