Suit and the works for interview, definately (even if it kills ya )
but good pants shirt and (depending on company) tie for normal day stuff, some allow those geeky short sleeve shirts too. Women fare better the wife wears short skirts, bare legs and sleeveless tops in summer.

Looks like I'l have to invest in a suit. Haven't worn one since my last interview.

So even in Summer, I'll have to be fully suited up?

If your having a stopover in Thailand or Singapore get a tropical suit tailored to fit. Mine cost less than £100 including 2 pairs of pants and 5 shirts, it takes less than 48hrs from measure to delivery. Excellent service, there are loads of tailors shops in Bangkok.

I had one on-the-spot job interview in Aus after cold-calling a garden nursery.
I was covered in mud at the time! I'd just finished one nursery job and walked down the road to the next nursery to ask for another!

PS......I got the job!

Er......I probably wouldn't recommend this attire for an office job!

This is probably the last bastion of unknown sexism in the workplace, esp in the UK,
men having to dry clean and maintain suits, women mix and matching; putting on a skirt, and a cleanish jumper (say) over a t-shirt found in the laundry..

I think one bloke (in the UK) tried to sue over this a year or so a go...
