What job would you retrain in?

What job would you retrain in?
So a plasterer now for 14 years, and when we move out to melbourne i think i will have to retrain in a job more suited for the demands?
Im still only 36 years young too and quiet fit(this isnt not a lonely hearts ad btw)
So what type of job would be a good career change?
Dont mind lower wages to start with,college/on job training etc etc but want a job with job satisfaction and also prospects to climb the ladder to earn more money
I have always worked on private houses and never building sites,so i like the face to face talk of people.
Be nice to wear a shirt to work too(wifey would like that)
Dont mind a office based job where i could also go out too?
I like computers,so maybe something there i could learn about?
Love motorbikes/cars/outdoor life style.
So your views please?

How about civil engineering or surveying etc.
This place does distance learning so you could still work:
http://www.usq.edu.au/handbook/current/eng/eng.html
Im assuming your mature student, so Uni's usually take this into account eg not so strict on qualifications to get on course.

In an ideal world and if I had all the time and money I needed to live on while I trained I would do nursing specialising in palliative care and work in a cancer or AIDS hospice.
Since I'm in my mid 40s and have already had my career I've become a medical secretary. Bid drop in pay from my previous job, but I like not having to be 3" from people's faces all day long.

Re: What job would you retrain in?
So is there any companies that would employ a mature newbie to train at being a civil engineer?
Obviously go to college or the like but actually work while i train?
cheers

Re: What job would you retrain in?
I don't intend to be working when I'm 70. And the money I make at a job I'm good at now is being used to save for my daughter's university education. Like I said, I've had a 20+ year career and now work in a job where I can use some of my skills (advanced medical terminology, knowledge of medicine in general). I'm not complaining at all about working as a secretary. I like having less responsibility and a great bonus is that I work from 7:30-4 Monday to Friday and get every 4th Friday off with pay. Couldn't do that in my old job.

Re: What job would you retrain in?
ive no idea pal, but im in the same boat, im a sparks but Ive never really liked it plus i dont want to be climbing scaffolds in my 50/60s. Im immigrating to melbourne on thursday, Im pretty intrested in joining the police. I'd imagine it would be a bit less boaring than sparking plus job security.
Maybe an idea for you
