using 3 mobile and broadband in Australia
Moving out to Brisbane next month from UK. Phoned 3 to cancel my phone and mobile deal but they said we can continue with our contract out there as they are linked up with Vodaphone. Does any body know if this is true or just a sales pitch? Starting to think it might be less hassle just to cancel!!

Re: using 3 mobile and broadband in Australia
No it's true. Vodafone bought out 3 in Australia a couple of years ago. Beware though, Vodafone network had a lot of issues a couple of years ago. They suffered some extremely bad press (have a look for related stories, "Vodafail" on Google). Network is improving apparently but is way behind Telstra and Optus.
My advice, for what little it is worth, would be to go ahead and cancel. Then when you get to Brizzy check out what networks are best in the area you are moving to, check out the deals being offered by the major telcos and the others such as Virgin, TPG etc, then sign up.
