UK tv not working!!!
HELLLLLPPPPPP!
My tv is driving me nuts!! I've brought over my tv with built in digital and free view, it even has a setting for Australia!
In our rental we have E-wire (cable) and I was told I could just plug a normal coaxle in and get the free channels without subscribing to e-wire or buying a box.
When I've tried to do this and scan for channels I get nothing and it shows as I have a weak/or no signal.
Does anyone know if I need something else? I need e-wire activated? Or is it my tele??
I also have a Foxtell point, I take it I can't just plug into this either??
Thanks in advance!
Jon

Have you set your region to Australia? We bought our TV's over and they work okay - the newer one is set to Australia, and the older one to Germany which has the same frequency ranges.

Not sure what this Cable / E wire thing is and I know my stuff.... First time I've heard anyone call a Coax to community Aeriel this before. Is it just a Coax to Community digital aeriel ?
Can't find anything on the net about it either ?
If it is a community aeriel connection, then it's the Settings on your digital box, unless there's a fault in your particular connection at your flat.
I'd be asking the neighbours... You need someone with a small portable TV to check your connection.
Whats E wire BTW ? Your not plugging into the local NBN or Optus cable per chance ?
Blimey found it....
Tis a Perth thing wow !!

OK ... you may need to talk to some people on Whirlpool I'll see If can find a link for you.
Read this and try here.....

PS in the interim I'd be going to my local 2 dollar shop and picking up some cheap rabbit ears atenna and seeing if I can get anything on my TV.

At work now I do night shift... I'm serious about the rabbit ears just to discount the possibility of your tv being the problem. As you will pick up at least a few channels should only cost 6 bucks

Re: UK tv not working!!!
Get a digital box which will decode the local digital channel. We couldn't use our Samsung tv (bought in Ireland) here either. Bought a digital box and now get all the channels. Saves buying a new tv!

The thing is the tv has an australian setting!! Whilst I don't mind buying a box I don't want to keep spending when that might not fix it.

Panic over!!! Thanks everyone.
Rang e-wire and they said I should have a power pack which wasn't on (when they did there check). Located it, turned on and hey presto working tv without needing anything else.
