PHYSIOTHERAPY in AUSTRALIA: the worldwide reference?
Hello all,
For some reason, Australia and New Zealand were the absolute reference for my physiotherapy professors at University.
Any british expat experience or insight regarding physiotherapy sessions in Australia?
What would you say are the differences (if any)?
Many thanks,
Sophie

They always find something else wrong and want to make sure you have lots of repeat appointments.

Yes, Spouse of S. I think I know why they like the australian physiotherapy. They like Australian researchers for their very good intuition and insights. Their studies, their research are very well buildt, very interesting. It looks like the lives of the australian revolve around physiotherapy. They are very into it. They raise good issues.
However, I found the british approach in practice was very good. I wanted to know about the practice in Australia, too. I mean from the patient's perspective.
Anyways, British and Australian physio belong to the same "universe".
But I was curious about it. About some feed back from patients perspective.
Thank you all. And yes, the bill does matter. I agree with that.

My kids receive very good physio treatment through public outpatients at the Mater Hospital in Brisbane and it's all covered by Medicare.

Precisely. Same with most specialist treatments over here. They keep referring and referring, scaring people into paying for scans etc that they don't really need. Wish more people were brave enough to say Enough, and quit paying!
