On a PR visa you are entitled to claim family tax benefit and rent assisstance. They are means tested though so depends on your income as to how much you can claim.

cheers wendy - well no job at the moment but will have the house equity so am assuming that will count towards it?

cant believe it isnt a "just rock on up to our country and we will chuck money at you" like it is in the uk!!!!!!?!?!!!!! (ducks for cover!)
