Wow! cracking photographs. Big thanks for sharing them. It's great to see some other places in Oz, I'm always amazed by how beautiful a country it is.

About 25 mins out of Townsville you can swim in cool (but not too cold!), fresh water watering hole with fish & turtles in a National Park. It is called Alligator Creek. Some kids were going down the small rapids on tyre inner tubes. It was a busy day when we went...

may i ask are you a Dr at Townsville hospital?
i ask this, as i am 6 months off qualifying as student nurse (in the UK) and i spent 18 months in Oz previously. i am going to apply to come back to Oz on a permanent basis once i get my first year post-reg under my belt and i was seriously thinking of coming to Townsville. my speciality is A&E/ED/ER (depending on which country), any info/guidance from you on this matter would be of a great benefit and I would really appreciate it heaps.

Hi there, yes I am working at Townsville Hospital. There are a lot of nurses & midwives who come over from the UK. I'm not sure on the exact vacancy status of ED at the moment. I would keep an eye on here when the time comes:

If you can get a job here without using an agency, that is always preferable for hospitals because the agency take their cut which is usually quite a lot. It also means you in a better position to negotiate some removal expenses if they're not paying out for agency fees.
It is my impression that HR don't generally have a list of who to 'keep in mind' when it comes to jobs and you just have to look out for what is advertised. Having said that, there is a central HR contact on the above page for unadvertised positions, so it might be worth an email in case.
Good luck!
Danny
