Default A thread for everyone building their own home

I have started this thread for everyone building their home, to submit photos and their experiences, good or bad of the building company they are using.

An excellent idea, this thread will probably put the fear of God into most people once there have been a few replies. I will dig out my letter to the managing director of the company that built our house when I have a minute.

Good idea Robert - are you still going to post on your own thread or on this one now?

Cheers

Bang on time! We have just sent an email sacking our architect.........

We visited an architectural draughtsman this afternoon and it was like a breath of fresh air. The man knew what we were talking about, said our own rough plan with dimensions was all he needed to draw up the plans and specs and estimated two weeks to do it, then perhaps six for council approval.

It's over six weeks since we signed up with the architect - and only after we called Thursday did she actually think up a sketch overnight. Apparently this is par for the course.....

In the meantime we have had a site contour survey, soil bores, organised water bore and landscape design and had half a dozen large eucalypts felled and removed. It just feels as if you have to DIY!

Peterson Homes (United Building Group) is our builder and so far we have had no problems and would highly recommend them. Their show home is at Valerie Close, Mount Martha, on the Mornington Peninsula Victoria.

Yep. Ours started last week. Were building with Richard Homes on the Gold Coast and they have been brilliant so far. We're taking a drive up there tomorrow to take a look and hopefully the foundations will have been poured by then. At least the pool is in though, one less thing to worry about later.

Cheers

Hi All,
Can anyone out there help? We are hoping to have a house built when we settle in Perth, I have been in contact with WBN, Signature and Contemporary homes in Perth. They all responded to my emails by the next working day and all seemed very professional when I spoke with them. However, I would really like to hear from any Perthies with any experience of these companies, good or bad.

Thanks
ACE

Love to be able to post a picture of our build but so far the land is 3 months behind schedule, so if anyone wants to see a lot of dirt I'll post that. Sorry to be a negative post .
