I don't get this can't buy anything for $400k in Perth. Look down Rockingham/Waikiki way, there are heaps of nice places for $400K.

I agree, but they are stupid to reconsider, because in not going they are choosing to have alarge mortgage on a tiny house with no land, rather than a large mortgage on a big house with more land.

To quote that (annoying!) Police & Nurses ad:
'Sounds good to me'.

But life isn't all about the size of your house or land is it?

Been in Perth for just over 10 years. Don't love it, don't hate it, but each visit to the UK reaffirms for me that this will never be 'home'.

Of course not. My point is that all other things being equal, then you'd rather have a larger property. Terraces are not great - listening to your neighbours rowing at all hours, or hearing the toilet getting flushed through the night, their music banging through the wall, etc. Better if you can to get a decent place with some privacy.

My mother in law lives in an 1870 4 storey terraced house and doesn't hear a peep from her neighbours. It is called quality house building.

I have to say i hear more bodily functions and shenanigans here in australia than i ever did in the uk .
Houses are generally noisey here with timber floors being very popular and with windows open all day and night it isnt quite as quiet as people may think in some of the 'burbs'.

It is quite the opposite here, all solid concrete floors and double brick construction. You don't even know your neighbours are there unless they are in their pools or entertaining in their gardens.
