Symphony In The City / Perth Tonight

The annual Symphony In The City, performed by the WA Symphony Orchestra is on tonight for any one here in Perth, looking for something/somewhere, to do/go and its free.

We go every year and a very peasant evening with picnic blanket and a bottle of white. It's held at Langley Park, near to the river, always well attended.

Starts at 7.30 pm and lasts a couple of hours. The city decorations can be viewed beforehand doing the 'light walk'.

It always concludes with Tchaikovsky 1812 Overture and expect this year will be no different.

Regrettably we are too far away, but we do have opera tickets for a few months from now.

And you complain about the standard of living?

Sounds like a nice thing for all you peasants to do.

Jolly decent nite off from the daily toil for us peasants indeed. Save up all year for it mind, lowest shelve bottle of bubbly of course.

Gosh next year looking forward to get away from it all with a long weekend in Rockingham Caravan Park. Can't wait. Sleep under canvas instead of the bare ground for a change.

Your Liberal neo economics obviously improving the lot of us wretches.

On the way to the event, poked my head into the rather unsavourily pub, 'The Knackered Nag,' home to rather a 'special' segment of the Perth population. The best that can be said is the lack of prejudice in any sort of door policy. I guess you'd know the place from recent Perth foray?

Anyway, I digress, spotted a bloke remarkably similar in appearance to Zulu, playing a solitary game of darts, muttering into his lager (probably Castle) about how the Left has diminished his dreams of forum domination, on a particular internet forum through exposing his pattern of misinformation and lies. Looked in a right old state. Missing his old mate in the outrageous department without a clue and fellow traveller in all things reprehensible, Beoz I expect.

Yes very pleasant evening under a slightly gothic appearance, due to dark cloud formation, very unusual for the time of year, which is normally very hot.

Paul O'Neill, the Perth raised tenor , just back in WA, from a spell in Germany, performed a couple of well known numbers to perfection.

There was a good mixture from Strauss Die Fiedermaus to Handel and an American composition that didn't know from Copland...Down from Rodeo .....

As usual was right it finished with fireworks and Tchaikovsky's 1812 Overture....

Very fortunate that the event was held last night. The weather has been a return to winter conditions today. Wind and Rain. Very unusual for the time of year in a predominately sunny city as is Perth.

More on the way tomorrow. Personally love the cooler change. Just lucky wasn't last night and the event was called off.

Good to see a number of international visitors as well as locals taking advantage of the weather yesterday and doing the Christmas light walk/tour.
