Pure sensationalist scaremongering
The real fact is that WA and Perth are actually way ahead of the other states in ensuring that they do have adequate water supply.
Perth's desalination plant was the first in the country and now Sydney, Melbourne and the Gold Coast are all looking to follow their lead.

That may be true, but I think you will find they lead the way in efficient use of water. It doesn't make sense to keep wasting water and just build desal plants. I'm not saying extreme water restrictions like they have a few places on the east coast is the solution either, but there is a happy medium somewhere. Do 10% of all sprinklers still water the road in Perth?

I think the real issue is that if the Gnaraga (sp) Mound runs too low, then the agricultural land around and about will acidify and become to salient to grow crops, not that Perth will run out of water.
After visiting last year, I couldn't believe that there were no effective restrictions on the water bores people were drilling.

the wanted down under series is a repeat from earlier in the year.
they are helpful up to a point but what always gets to me is the people say we can afford a house for x amount of dollars and then they show them this fab house that they fall in love with and it turns out to be twice their budget!
