Smart TV.
Is it worth taking your smart TV with you to Australia? Will the smart apps work or will it only work as a monitor?

The way things are going here, I would check that you can get an internet connection first, some areas seem to be struggling at the moment. Some parts of Australia, even in the cities are running out of connection nodes and speeds are pretty bad. ( Example - Look at the Varsity lakes thread )
If your TV isn't compatible with free to air TV signals, set top boxes are cheap as chips even if you use it as a monitor only.

For instance, many Samsung smart TVs will pickup and use the new apps for the new location (if you let it, there are advantages to keeping UK apps like iplayer via a VPN/SmartDNS). A good bet is to be able to access one country via the TV, and the other via another device (eg Blu Ray player, settop box).
Another issue is if it does MPEG4. Channels here are switching over, and if your TV is old, it might not do it (kinda unlikely now).
Oh, and of course, a move can be an excuse to get a nice new 4K TV ....
In general, yes, stick it in the container, you can make use of it somehow.

You don't say what brand of TV you have. You might find you will have to change its "region" when you get here. It can be done, we needed to do it with our UAE TV. Because it was set to the UAE region it wouldn't pick up the free to air channels until after I reset the region.
You'll need to search the internet for your TV brand's instructions to access the service codes to do this. There is always a risk doing this as it may "brick" the TV - so be warned.
The other option is to pay for a service guy to come and do it - if they will.
Good luck

Smart Apps should work, as they will be picking up your internet connection and unless they are region specific to using an UK IP address then do not see why will not work. Also depending on the TV brand, you may be able to install some apps locally. Not sure how Netflix and the like would work as you would have setup your account in the UK, so these may need a new account setup in Australia.
If the TV is good quality and you do not mind the extra, guessing minimal shipping cost, then bring it. Work out the cost of you selling it, how much it may add to your shipping costs, the costs of buying something similar in Australia. Then add to the the waiting time of not having a TV while it is being shipped across.
The only additional costs of using it in Australia would be a new power cord, and a set top box to get OTA TV channels or if you are wanting something similar to SKY, that subscription.
A friend has one of the 55" from here, very cheap. TV is pretty decent, sound ok ish, but add a sound bar if you are looking for cinema quality.
