Looks like there is a price war coming.

Thanks for starting this thread mate.

We were a few hours away from booking with Emirates but have now gone with SIA and saved lots of $$$$$.

But its not just the $$$ savings, we've now got a better route, flight times, more modern planes and hopefully, better inflight service.

thanks again!!

We needed to be able to cancel our flights for the $330 per ticket that it costs with Emirates. Sing doesn't allow for cancellations at these prices I don't think. In any case our Emirates prices are only $500 difference for 2 adults and 2 children.

It's good for us that these prices are about because if we don't travel and need to change there is hope that Emirates prices will have to move a bit. Only 2 or 3 days there were some Emirates offers for Oct but they have been taken off now so worth looking out for and if you know you need to change don't panic watch the fares and offers.

Poppet

p.s obviously having a better route is an important issue as well so can glad sing is working for lots of people. It's definitely better these days for flying back than before. I certainly don't feel as trapped when I see flying back for about 5k instead of 12k!

Re Seat selection. We have to pay for this through travel agent, we had $5000 credit with them from cancelled trip last year.

I know if you book online you can select seats, what about travel agent customers, I signed up for krisflyer just in case but cant find how to pick seats?

Does anyone know?

Don't think you can select through Krisflyer if your TA booked it. We had this problem when The Geek booked through his corporate agent, had to make a choice between being able to waitlist OR book seats.

Call up reservations and ask them to do a seat assignment for you.

Thanks for answers guys. Since moving to aus I have developed an unhealthy fear of economy class 24 hour flights, frankly IMO they are hell on earth

Seat selection helps a bit

Hell yes. Flying long haul is definitely a means to an end, although I'd done UK-SIN so many times that anything less than 12 hours started to feel like a bus ride. Then we moved here...

Those rows of 2 on the A380 make it slightly less hell for me, which is why I think we'll probably stick with the flights we've booked rather than cancel and end up on an old plane.

(Geek tried to ring SIA yesterday to see how long it would take to get a refund if we rebooked - last time it we had to do it it was 3 months and at the moment we don't have a lot of spare brass locally - but of course he was hanging so long he gave up.)

Ta for the thread folks.....just booked flights for 3 of us, $1462 each. We can only do a short holiday, (1 week) due to work commitments, and these prices have allowed us to nip over to blighty and celebrate the hubbies birthday with the rellies, and also do some catching up . Happy days

Been eagle eyed for this type of thread since as I bought some Michael Jackson Concert tickets for 24th July & 1st Aug in London, so was chuffed to bits when I saw this link, I have bought 4 flights, back to Manchester from Brisbane for myself and 3 kids so we can see the legend, extravigent I know, Staying for 3 weeks, except one of my children who is staying for the full 3 months. Elder children are really missing their friends, so a good opportunity for them to spend some time with their mates, while me I am looking forward to buying some good quality clothes, especially Jane Norman & Next, and some good underware & nightware from M & S & British Homestores.

Thanks again for bringing it to our attention

Wow you're going all that way to see Micheal Jackson, I wouldn't cross the road to see him unless he was burning

I rang to ask what time the Michael Jackson show starts, apparently it's when the big hand touches the little hand.
