Bugger............

Phew..............

Booked with Emirartes 2 days ago.

But just checked a variety of dates on SIA, and there are no sale fares available, don't know what I'd have done if there had been (so, maybe I shouldn't have looked!)

If anyone is in a situation where the have booked something much more expensive check the fare conditions of your original booking. I know my last couple of Emirates flights had a $200 cancellation charge so you could conceivably book the SIA flights, cancel with EK, cough up the $200 and still be much better off. Definitely do it in that order though!

Yeah, that might be worth looking at, although I have yet to find anything around the dates I'm looking for in July.

But I will have another look just in case

Looks like there is a price war coming.

Bloody useful post See BE is not a waste of time, very useful website.

Just booked 3 from brisbane to UK, got dates I wanted, and most of the way were on the A380 so at least a new plane, hope the seats are more roomy than their old planes which I found horribly cramped despite being a small person.

Anybody been on this A380 tell me its nice??

The Brisbane to Singapore sectors are now on a brand new A330 as well, every bit as good as the A380 in terms of seat, entertainment etc.

This is good, my last two international flights have been on planes so old I think they saw the 1980's

arrgh - we fly on 7th May emirates Melbourne to Manchester - 3 people cost $6000 plus $600 internal return flight to Melbourne from Adelaide. Just checked singapore airlines and we could get our dates for $4386 direct from Adelaide. Typical!! Looked at our emirates booking conditions and we could potentially cancel the emirates flights for $300 each, and rebook on singapore - saving approx $800 plus svaing time and hassle of extra flight connections. we may be able to change our internal flighst with qantas too - haven't checked yet. Just need to work out if I can find $4386 to book the singapore flights as I can't imagine emirates will be too quick at issuing a refund for their flights.

For Qantas red e-deal fares I don't think you can get a refund...however you can cancel and get a credit to use within 12 months. So it depends if that works for you?

The A380, A330-300 and B777-300ER (also used on SIN-LHR now) all have the same economy class setup.

I booked with Qantas a few weeks ago and got 2 adults and 2 kids for $6000 to LAX from Perth.
Not too bad considering I was quoted about $1200 at first!

I am off to Europe with work in June, flying Sing, so have just booked hubby and daughter flights to accompany me. Less than $3K for them both.

I actually received an email advising me about these fares on Monday as part of Krisflyer Club....did not think the deals would be so good!

Guys...

quick one, just got on and got great offer but 12hr layover in SIN. fare conditions do say stopover allowed but could we do this stopover as the 12 hours? Afternoon tea in Raffles then dinner in Newton Circus would nicely break the journey.

yep - you can leave the airport in Singapore with a stopover of 12hrs. We've done it before with a 7hr stopover. I think they say anything over 5hrs.
