Default Shipping Insurance

Hi,

Just wondering if anyone can advise which insurance to take out on shipping. We have been quoted 4.5% fully comp, 4% standard with 1% excess or restricted (total loss) at 2%?

My question really being has anyone experienced damage to their items in transit making it worth going fully comp or shall I risk it and go for total loss?

Thanks

After four moves now, I have decided that a little bit of damage is inevitable. One broken plate or scratched piece of something or other. We made an insurance claim once and they paid up a few hundred quid, but the insurance itself cost far more than that. We decided on our most recent move to go for total loss cover only and be prepared for one or two minor accidents.

Thanks for your advice. I'm thinking the same

If you insure with an independent like Letton Percival or Insure Your Move it will be cheaper than via the removals company. We used Letton Percival and had to make a claim for a damaged TV and a couple of other things ( TBH we wouldn't have bothered with them but as we claimed for the TV.......). Claim was dealt with quickly and efficiently and we were paid out quickly.
