Hi All

Just spoke to Seven Seas ( understood about 1/2 of the conversation as lady was far eastern !) anyway our boxes have arrived in Melbourne ( not W.A), then customs clearance ,then onward movement to our address in W.A.

Is this normal ? i.e why not ship the things to ruddy Freemantle in W.A ? -grrrrrrrrrr

SOmetimes its quicker to get them on a ship to one port, rather than wiating for one to somewhere that seems more direct. My guess is more ships go to the Eastern seaboard, so thats why its coming via Mel....(or it could be a stuff up )

We had a part container come through Adelaide, and was then forwarded to Melbourne.

Only added a few days to the total journey.

this is normal, we sent 2 boxes with 7 sea's 1 day before we left the uk (stuff we couldnt get in suitcases) we had sent 17 boxes out earlier with another company and that came straight to perth, and the boxes which came via melbourne got here first

Its a crap system and its a UK fault/cutting corners not an Oz one, our shared container/shipping was sent to Sydney, then you wait for it to clear customs then you wait for the shippers this end to fill a truck heading your way, which can take weeks...
The shippers take the cheapest option for them!

Weve had to wait for a truck to be filled with Adelaide bound goods so we can get our belongings and no doubt you would be in the same position.

We used Freedom shipping which is also seven seas our boxes arrived here in WA last week and are being delivered this Thursday, we were told we had to pay the custom fee which we did last week then fax them the receipt and they would get back to us regarding delivery.......3 days later we were still waiting so were on the phone to them last night to sort things out, luckily they can deliver them this week as Im not working this week.

I used Freedom shipping who are the same company as Seven seas - tracked my shipment all the way to Fremantle - they docked on 30 dec 2007 THEN on 31st they set sail to Melbourne apparently it is norm - they only take on new stuf at fremantle.
On a good note all my stuff arrived on time and in one piece exactly how they said it wold

At least you know where your stuff is! Mine was supposed to leave the UK going airfreight to Perth (thanks to my employer for that one - apparently the difference in quotes was only about 200 dollars) but after not hearing anything from Grace Removals for over a month, I enquired where it was. They did some digging and, a week later, told me that they hadn't been able to trace it because the UK movers, Doree Bonner Intl, had decided to ignore all the paperwork and put it on a ship.... so it's going to be a while yet before it arrives.
