SELF SUFFICIENCY - WHAT GROWS IN YOUR GARDEN?

Re: SELF SUFFICIENCY - WHAT GROWS IN YOUR GARDEN?
Potatoes, lettuce, rocket, carrots, beetroot, broad beans, runner beans (not easy to get the seeds but you keep your own back), onions, peppers, cabbage, broccoli, apples and oranges (sometimes...)
I've never seen so many pests and diseases as I have in our garden here - anyone who eats snails could die of overeating this year!
We keep a small (3 x 6m) raised patch which just about feeds us most of the year. It also feeds most of the local wildlife.....

Ohhhh yer, I did forget one pest (although really we do have few here) POSSUMS! They love the pears, apples, figs! When the pears are ripe, if you don't pick them the tree is COVERED in parrots, but I don't mind that at all.

we grew jarradale pumpkins this year - the 1st year we spread our 2yr old veggie compost over the area- we had some shoots come up and I thought I'd leave them to see what they were- hey presto! - Pumpkins! the only pest- my dog digging it all up when she gets the chance!
