Some yes. There is plenty here that gets right on my t*ts...driving standards, the weather is pretty pants a lot of the time, house build standards, lack of decent heating...etc. etc.

oh yeah guys totally. maybe because I am tight it seems like I am always complaining about oz but overall I really like it here. otherwise I would go back. weather, beaches, lots of work, food is awesome its great. I can't think of many better places for my kids to grow up.
alls I'm saying is if it based on money would I come here. and the answer to that is no. it is very expensive. I can just about to afford to pay for it as I earn a fair bit. those poor guys on $70k. I don't know how you do it

Are you allowed to say that?

I'm sure it say's somewhere, in the Aussie rule book for migrants, that once you land in Australia, that from that day forth, you must tell everybody who asks, that the weather is always glorious sunshine and 26c.

Doesn't it say that? I'm sure I read it somewhere.

Earn a fair bit, and have time to keep telling everyone on the internet - I want your job!!

We scrounge in bins for food and live in disgusting conditions for your info. Please keep giving to charity on a monthly basis (as earning a fair bit I presume you would).

A dear old catholic priest I used to know once said

"its a lot easier being poor in a warmer climate"

And yes it is... We arent poor, only in comparrison to some of the rich barstewards on here, but our lifestyle is fantastic compared to the cabin fevered existance we used to live in the uk.... Where we were relatively not so well off....

Yup, what Eddie said. I'd rather be poor here in SA, then poor back in Bradford anyday!

I wasn't trying to sound like a bighead. Hope it didn't come across like that.

Is everyone a barsteward if they have more money in comparison to you?

Complete depends on your personal circumstances - We had no mortgage in the UK, but cause ofthe diary exchange rates and housing dip in the UK, didn't sell our house and the rent we received didn't touch paying for the rental bill in the redlands. We got a mortgage and bought another house in Qld which we loved, but the int rates just keep on going up. they are much more changable than in the UK, and that directly hits your pocket, along with paying for schools which is a must in Qld and medical, it was all too much and decided to return to the UK last year. Having said all that, leisure costs are much cheaper in Oz, you can do some much for free and the weather helps. And of course the kids being outside all the time is fab, my two had cabin fever when we came back to the UK for the first 6 months! Hubby's work payed more (IT) in Oz, but only cause of the exchange rates -3 years ago we would have said he earned less in Oz. So it all depends what is important to you and your personal financial circumstances. Gone forever are the days of buying huge houses with pools and lots of spare change, for the price of an avg 3 bedder in the UK. Australia have lots of resources China want and a huge part of economy benefits from that - sadly the UK have sold out most of their resources to other countries, Australia will fight to the end to keep theirs.
