Default Prepaid Mobile Plans - WTF?

They seem incomprehensibly complicated.

I'm buggered if I can figure out what I would be charged

I have never really understood their plans, but I have an app that tracks my usage and helps.

That said, have been using Optus and recently realised I can get the same value by using one of their resellers and save more than 60% of current monthly charge.

I just buy a $50 annual recharge from vodafone - as I don't use my phone and it isn't a smart phone, I can go for about 8 months before I have to spend another $50 again. No contracts, just pay for what I use.

The mobile plans were difficult to understand when I was in Oz, so I stuck to a $50 Vodaphone PAYG. Here in the Uk I have a contract £37 a month, Iphone4 thrown in and 1 Gb data, 600 minutes free calls and unlimited texts every month. Can't beat it.

I was with Vodafone for $45 a month - now the entire family are with vaya.net.au. The boys and OH have a $7 a month plan and I have the $11 plan. Total of $32 for 4 people!
