Yep that is quite close enough lol, the plug sockests in our bathroom are on the wall, I would say about a meter from the sink. Hubby was changing a UK plug to an Aussie one and they don't have fuses in the Aussie plugs.

It's a lot less than that in QLD.

Must be different states, different rules when it comes to safety and wiring, like a lot of things differ between he states.
I built here in Qld ( close to two years ago) and on the original wiring plan that they did for us the power points were positioned right next ( just above the basin and just a tiny tiny bit to the left, just a few inches away from the basin) to the basin and spa. The other bathrooms the same , they were all next to the basins and baths.
walk around any new ( and old) home, and most do have power points right next to the basins in Qld.

Our home; we moved them to the opposite wall where there is no water ( hairdryers - we positioned hairdryers on wall in a designed holder on the opposite side from the water . You really don't need a point for a shaver these days if you buy a rechargable model , most good shavers are rechargeable). We also re positioned the light switches to be on the outside wall of the bathrooms. If you're building, and not happy with the idea of power points right next to water - just move them on the wiring plans that you should get before they start wiring up the place ( or tell the sparky exactly what you want when you have a meeting with him)before they are fitted. Prob solved.
