Less than the price of a good car.

Cardiff, London, Poole, Portsmouth and Windsor have risen, all by significantly less than the fudged inflation figure provided by the Govt.

Looking at prices in the Woldingham, Surrey/Kent border area where I used to live, prices are roughly the same as they were in 2007 - which means that they have probably gone down, but not by much.

For some people that is as good or better than house prices dropping a few percent

Re: Pound = $ 1-64
If I was to sell my house today, I would probably have GBP650k/EUR800 clear. I paid GBP210k for it in 2005.

Highly doubtful unless you've spent major cash on it. All 3 major indices show house prices at the end of 2011 very similar to 2005, in fact depending when you bought in 2005 it could be down quite a bit

Re: Pound = $ 1-64
Doesnt seem unreasonable.
I bought my house for $200k (£80k at the time)
Could now sell it for $600k (£400k now)
Thats a 500% increase in the sterling value of my Australian house in under a decade. Its all moot though - I'd still struggle to find a house in part of the UK I wanted to live in and could find a decent liveable job in for less than £400k so I guess I'm not going anywhere...
