It depends a lot on what you do and / or how specialist your skills are.
If you are not in the medical or other highly specialised area, then most employers will want to meet you before committing to offering a role. If an employer knows you have PR and are planning on moving out in the neear future then they might agree to some preliminary telephone interviews, but you probably would have to go over to meet them shortly thereafter for a face to face interview and you would also need to show that you are serious about making the permanent move and can do so without much delay. This is pretty much my experience and my OHs. We spoke to recruitment agents about a month before we went over for a validation trip, had a couple of telephone interviews and had face to face interviews lined up for when we arrived. |

no employer sponsared her. she was granterd 175 which is skilled independent visa. I think you confused with her statement mentioning telephonic interviews. She did all this to get job in Australia after her 175 was granted.
Bermudashorts can confirm on this :) No sponsorshp required, I have a 175 visa. |

It's definitely possible but improbable. Most recruitment agents I've dealt with will only respond to you if you are in the country and therefore able to attend interviews/start straight away.

I am not sure, why an employer would hire somebody who is not in the country instead of a person who is availabe outside his office.
Those were the days when skilled people were in high demand and due to skill shortages employer had to import skilled workers from abroad. But situation has gone worst now. If somebody is hiring candidates from abroad then he might be doing for some own benefits in the form of comission or cheap employees from poor countries. Rock On. |

Well I am not a cheap employee from a poor country. Arguably on the second point.
Oh I forgot to mention that some employers may also look for some beautiful and intelligent candidates from abroad, like u Bermudashorts. |

Yes 175, I thought we were talking about candidates with PR on this thread (apart from the confused Miss-chevious). And whilst I may be beautiful ;) , Mr Bermudashorts isn't quite so, but he still managed to find a job as well. :D
Australia is looking for people like you Miss B.S, and not Mr. B.S. Lets see , when I get a chance to jump. Cheers B.S, this is for you only. :drinkwine: Getting job in sydney should be a piece of cake for Smart guys like me ;) |
