May be a daft question but has anyone ever taken a portable Flat screen TV. In their hand luggage?

No, but it may not work when you get here anyway, people report that some UK tvs have not worked unless you have a set top box or cable or can set the tuning to Germany.

Would you like to a) try and fit it in an overhead locker
and b) find out what it feels like when it falls out in flight and shatters on your head?
I'd be surprised if many airlines would allow it, to be honest.

I once watched a man on a British Airways flight from the Middle East cram on a microwave oven and two twenty litre plastic jerry cans of zam-zam water. The look on the flight attendants face was priceless.

Yes i bought a 20" one in dubai took it out of the box and put it in a carry on bag no problem.
